Sitting down for long periods of time can take a toll on the body. It can lead to things like back pain, tight hip flexors, migraines, and so on.
Every Monday for the past 2 years I have taught a yoga class for the staff at the library of parliament here in ottawa. It is one of my favorite classes in the week to teach because the group is always so grateful for the opportunity to move their bodies.
I ask them if they have any requests for what style of class they wanted to do. Without fail it was always a request for neck and shoulder pain, or tight hips and low back. All the most common areas of tension from sitting at your desk all day.
I wanted more people to have access to these classes so that we can all work on undoing the damage that our desk jobs are having on our bodies.
